Overheard in NY

OINY is godawful ugly, with priceless content. I wonder if we could do something related — overheard on the set? This sort of thing lives or dies by the wit of the participants, and the number of the participants, so it would only, if ever, be a part of v.2.

  1. Another brilliant idea. It would also be worth google mapping it, to create the international feel. This is a must have. And I don’t think it should be part of v.2. We have to imagine the social network as catching fire rather quickly. Versus the school, which will start off with only perhaps 400 to 800 students.

Also — we can choose to be discretionary re the comments, cutting the innapropriate.

Your idea is brilliant because I believe it will become a unique draw to the community — gaining it’s own momentum and spreading across other blogs as a cool thing. I think there’s even an edited book in it.

People want the inside story. This is really inside. Global. And real.

  2. Hmm… already posted but didn’t hit through netnews I guess. This is BRILLIANT. This is a crucial and immediate part of the social network, we can rule out the bad ones, it will be a desirable place to participate, it will create members, it may be the coolest thing around as everyone wants to REALLY know, it’s really the inside scoop. And it’s pretty “live.” And international. And connected to a google map makes it hilarious. How the different cultures work.
